Karen Shapiro has successfully provided interior design solutions to clientele since 1984. KRS Designs, established in 1989, is a full service interior design studio. Karen provides personalized consultation, from conceptualization to planning, project management, and sub‐contractor oversight. Specializing in kitchens and bathrooms, clients and design professionals seek her out for her sophisticated, innovative style and ability to visualize her clients’ needs.

Always looking for the best fit and heeding to her clients’ tastes, she chooses suitable materials, provides attention to detail and complimentary color palettes. She is able to successfully blend classic and modern aesthetics while creating unique and noteworthy spaces. Much of Karen’s success can be attributed to her dedication to ensuring that each project reflects the taste and lifestyle of each individual client. She draws inspiration from her travels abroad as well as modern architects like Frank Lloyd Wright and artists such as Perla Krauze and Jonathan Silver.

Karen grew up in Los Angeles and began practicing interior design in Chicago and Baltimore before moving to Atlanta in 1988. Her work has been featured on HGTV and in the magazines: Better Homes and Garden, European Design, and Jezebel. She holds a degree in Design from the University of California , Los Angeles, and earned additional credits from the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles.

Karen lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband Jeffrey and her dogs Tucker, Bowie and Lucy. Her interests include visiting her three grown children, reading, traveling, cooking.
